About Shawnee, OK - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Originally settled after the American Civil War, the City of Shawnee, Oklahoma is currently home to approximately 30,000 people. About 45 minutes east of downtown Oklahoma City, Shawnee serves as the seat of Pottawatomie County. Education is important to the city with public schools provided by Shawnee Public Schools, and Oklahoma Baptist University has been located here since 1910. Shawnee is also known as the original home of Sonic, the popular national fast-food chain.

There are a plethora of things to do in historic Shawnee. The Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center hosts many events, including the Internal Finals Youth Rodeo, dubbed the world’s “richest youth rodeo.” The Citizen Potawatomi National operates the local Cultural Heritage Center to educate visitors about Potawatomi culture, and the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art is one of the state’s oldest museums. The city maintains Shawnee Twin Lakes and several small parks, including Briscoe Boy Scout Park, Red Bud Park, and Larch-Miller Park. Shawnee is also home to many casinos, such as Blackhawk Casino, Fire Lake Casino, and The Grand Casino.

Located in a temperate humid subtropical climate, the weather in Shawnee varies both daily and seasonally. Winters are especially variable, although on average, the season is cool and relatively dry. However, temperatures reach the freezing point an average of 70 days per year, so the right furnace, heat pump, or boiler is a necessity throughout the season.

Summers here are hot and humid from May through August or September, and temperatures often reach into the upper-80s or higher. Thunderstorms are common throughout the season and can include tornadoes, although the tornado season tends to peak from April through June. Safety at home should be a top priority for Shawnee residents during this time, and a reliable central air conditioning system is a good way to stay cool regardless of outdoor conditions.
